USA Rugby has announced that the 2008 collegiate national championship tournament will be held in Albuquerque, New Mexico. According to the USA Rugby press release, after careful consideration, "all 48 teams competing in the USA Rugby National Guard Collegiate Playoffs will compete in one location. This collegiate rugby festival will provide endless opportunities for many ancillary events."
So, instead of regional events held on college campuses across the US, all teams will travel to New Mexico and play in a single location - the balloon park in Albuquerque - which I'm sure is a lovely place.
Go figure... The only thing that many of us think is broken about the national tournament is the excessive travel involved...
